The other day I came across some old school pictures of myself and couldn’t help but laugh at how bad my makeup looked. So I thought I would list the top 7 things I wish I knew when I started wearing makeup.
CAKE CAKE CAKE
Their was one to many times I would pile on the foundation and I wasn’t even going anywhere. I now know that less is more.
TAKE IT OFF!
I’m sure many of us have been guilty of this one! Even if I’m tired I try to at least wipe off my makeup with a makeup wipe.
SAY NO TO DARK BLACK BROWS
I can’t believe I used to do this – NEVER – I repeat – NEVER- fill your brows in with dark black pencil, find a dark brown or a colour that suits you and loosely fill in your brows.
BLENDING IS ALWAYS KEY
When in doubt blend!!! Over the years I have learnt that blending really is the key to life. Back in the day I would slap everything on and call it a day. I have learnt that the art of looking flawless is blending in everything from your foundation to your eye shadow
ORANGE IS NOT ALWAYS THE NEW BLACK!
Before I learnt how to properly match foundation. I would just go to the shops and eyeball what colour I thought matched my skin tone, which is a big no no! I was always left looking orange or red. If you want to know my tips on finding the right foundation click here:
YOUR SKIN NEEDS TO BREATH TOO
When I started wearing makeup I would cake on foundation every day. Over the years I have learnt to let my skin breath.
WAY TO MUCH BLUSH
Their was many times I would find the brightest pink blush and swipe it on to my cheeks. (Trust me I was looking like a clown) Even if you want to wear a pink blush find one that matches your skin tone.
Makeup is all about having fun and expressing yourself – so don’t take it too seriously
