April truly is a birthday month. My mum aunt and grandad all have birthday in April. It’s not every day I get to celebrate the day with my mum on her birthday. This year I wanted to do something special, something that she would really enjoy and remember.

This year I decided to surprise my mum and take her to on the Bateaux London for afternoon tea. The Bateaux is a beautiful glass boat that takes you around the Thames to look at all the sights for an hour and offers, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. I told my mum the dress code was smart casual and that was the only clue she got. I decided to wear a pyjama shirt from misguided, ripped jeans a blazer and Christian Louboutin heels.

It’s a shame that the weather was really shitty on that day. To make it worse our uber dropped us off at the wrong place which meant we were trapped in the rain, and our umbrella broke. At that point, I was really pissed and thought the day had been ruined. However as soon as we got on the Bateaux and was seated everything changed. We didn’t have a window seat, however we still had a pretty good view of the Thames.

As I do have a nut allergy eating out can be a challenge. However the staff on the Bateaux were really accommodating and made sure I was able to have an enjoyable dining experience.  Neither one of us have had afternoon tea before and I was convinced that I was going to be hungry after, So I booked us dinner at PF Changs. Trust me I was wrong! The afternoon tea really  was filling.

Overall, we had a lovely time and I’m really glad that I could put a smile on my mums face for her birthday. Sometimes its not about the gifts, but creating amazing memories and experiences that can last a lifetime.
